been really slack with new albums. Think I only have The Dillinger Escape Plan- Option Paralysis, and the new Foxy Shazam. Been meaning to check out that new Foxy Shazam album for a while. How is it? I... don't like it. I thought I might warm to it after a few spins, but I don't think I'll ever like this album. It's not like it's particularly bad, it's just so different to the Foxy Shazam I fell in love with. As for new Dillinger, I'm a total fangirl so I'll probably like anything they release. It's no Miss Machine, but it's a decent album. Totally understand why someone wouldn't like it though.

Straight Lines - Persistence In This Game is one of the strongest debuts i've heard. Easily my favourite of the year so far.
Have a feeling the new Pulled Apart By Horses album will be up there too.

looking forward to getting my hands on the in disgust/p.l.f. split and the endless blockade/unearthly trance split when I have some money, high hopes for both of those records.

One of my early favourites of 2010. Whirl - Distressor EP. You can download for free from their myspace.. www.myspace.com/whirlbandIt's absolutely wonderful dreamy shoegazing goodness. Recommended.

Given that whirl ep quite a few plays today, I second that recommendation.

I know it's shitty to download things before they come out, but I had every intention to buy the new Loma Prieta record, and now I've heard it I'm looking forward to having a copy even more. Such a progression, heavier and faster yet still obviously the same band, life/less is superb.

I'm glad some people enjoyed Whirl. One of the members actually mailed me earlier and he seems like a very, very nice guy!

Oh, I just heard something else that will definately be in my top 10 releases of the year.. Aesahaettr - www.myspace.com/aesahaettrdestroyerofgodsBasically, a friend showed me this band a couple of months ago and I fell in love with it. So much so that my friend and I started a record label, with one of the main reasons being that we wanted to get this music out to as many people as possible. I just heard the entire 40 minute album and I have to say.. it's absolutely incredible, exceeding all expectations. I haven't heard anything better come out of black metal in a very long time. The album will be released on cassette tape (w/ digital download) via Sunyata within the next few months.

I absolutely guarantee you will dig the tape. The second side is one 18 minute track that absolutely destroys everything, ever.
