I listened to the Maths/Throats split again today.. I think it might be my favourite Holy Roar release ever.

This question is on the Holy Roar "form spring" site.
"how come maths don't play more shows? they seem like one of the most well known bands on the label, perhaps behind only throats, but they seem to keep touring to a minimum."
Alex responded but I will expand, in case anyone is interested. We don't tour as much as other bands that may be as well "known" as Maths for multiple reasons. One of which is the boring answer, that some of us have Uni/work. Another reason is that touring when you are in a band that doesn't really drink or take drugs or party all night sometimes makes you feel very isolated. Plus, we want to maintain the feeling that our shows are an occasion, not a regular occurrence.

I've only ever seen you guys twice in the couple of years I've known of your existence, and both times its felt like an occasion, so you've definitely achieved that. (in a good way)

We've been lucky enough to be playing both times I've seen Maths and the second time especially I can remember thinking was spectacular.

Looking forward to the Chantry Social, Canterbury show with La Dispute in a couple of weeks. Me too. It's going to be packed. I've never even listened to La Dispute before. I think it will be a cosy one. It's also the sort of show that Maths SHOULD be playing more often. I had a listen this morning, not really my kind of thing. Plus after a friend mentioned it last week I can't shake the fact that they sound like they're fronted by Tom Green.

La Dispute are amazing! I've wanted to see them live for really long now. Hopefully I'll be able to scrape a lift of someone and get out to this.

Oh man, I just posted on the Antares thread asking which dates they were supporting La Dispute on... and now I find out Maths are supporting in Canterbury! Shiiiiiiiiiiiiit... can't do more than one date, which to choose! Never seen in Antares, only caught last song of Maths at Offset last year!

The Leeds show isnt at the Well its up at the Royal Park Cellars which is a tiny venue so hopefully it should be a really good atmosphere!

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiit... can't do more than one date, which to choose! Never seen in Antares, only caught last song of Maths at Offset last year! Both really decent line ups I'm afraid. And both really great live bands. We'll Die Smiling in Leeds too. Maths are the most appropriate support out of all of them. Some of the bands supporting in Canterbury aren't so hot but the venue's way better than the cavernous hole that is The Well in Leeds. It's smaller. Probably going to be difficult for you to get to though (unless you drive!) No car sadly, else I'd probably visit Leeds more often than to see the grandparents every four years. I basically need to decide between Basingstoke and Canterbury... and since a mate of mine would be travelling from Cardiff to the same show it's more fair on him to do Basingstoke, haha.
