Don't know many bands from around the UK that well, but my favourite things in Leeds right now include : Himself - seriously incredible band, their previous band (Eiger) are also well worth a check himself.bandcamp.com/Humanfly - they've been around a decade, before that they did Canvas. nuff said. www.myspace.com/humanflyEllen & The Escapades - product of a music college, but still, I proper love her voice. www.ellenandtheescapades.comCyvoid - dudes from Send More Paramedics, Antares & The Plight rock the Thrash. www.cyvoid.com/Serious Sam Barrett - local BMX kid doing laidback country jams, did SXSW this year. www.myspace.com/sambarrettThe Lock & Keys - ex D-rail/Send More Paramedics/Errander do boy/girl vox pop/rock-punk, bloody great! www.myspace.com/thelockandkeysLeeds is pretty rife with The Awesome, here's a few others worth a mention....The Plight, Gentlemans Pistols, That Fucking Tank, End To Empires, Cocean, Cissy, Dauntless Elite..too many more, lunch calls! Oh, and Tate, you should check Frank Turners earlier band Kneejerk - they did a bunch of stuff, but the album Half-life of Kissing is an absolute gem of a record, and so far ahead of its time (in the "UKHC" stakes!)

My favourite UK band right now (aside from throats) would be Battle of Wolf 359, but aside from that:
Jesu Electric Wizard Mogwai Sun Kil Moon Hammers
Hip hop fans should also check out Orphans of Cush, the record White Noize is unreal

Sleeping Peonies White Medal Fen A Forest Of Stars Basilisk Caina Gallows Enter Shikari Desperate Cycle (split up years ago but still epic) I saw Fen in Holland earlier this year alongside some other pretty cool bands, including Negura Bunget. Fen were great live, as good as WitTR easily.

Fen are amazing live, along with AFOS. Who I'd figure to be right up your alley, musically
